Space morning Canarias in Madrid presents a series on the relation of texts and Bunuel Galdos.

'Communicating vessels' is an idea conceived and curated by Arantxa Aguirre Roca and Luis Arencibia. It focuses on the fruitful relationship between the texts of Benito Perez Galdos and the Aragonese Luis Bunuel film. The two managers of the initiative, which led it to places such as Belgrade (Serbia) and New Delhi (India) from the hand of the Cervantes Institute are experts in the field: Aguirre holds a PhD in Philology and filmmaker. He has published the essay 'Bunuel, Galdos reader' (International Research Award Perez Galdos, 2003) and Roca, a graduate in Information Sciences (Image and Sound), is the director of the Forum Canario International Film Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

At the 90th birthday of the death of Galdos Madrid, coinciding with the premiere of 'Elektra' at the Teatro Perez Galdos Gran Canaria capital, the adaptation of the cycle reaches the Canary Area has scheduled the production of three masterpieces by Luis Bunuel listed in first or second degree Galdosian work. First, 'The Forgotten' (1950), which was proposed on the 13th of May, shot in Mexico City with script by Luis Bunuel and Alcoriza, and fully connects with the spirit of the novel 'Mercy' by Galdos, as Bunuel himself recognizes.

The next session, on May 20, may be the adaptation of the novel Galdosian 'Nazarin', filmed between 1958 and 1959, to end what is considered by many his best film, 'Viridiana' (1961), original screenplay of Bunuel and Julio Alejandro Guerra.

In total, three masterpieces of Spanish cinema who have, moreover, with the lure of Gran Canaria writer's genius, a true inspiration for the filmmaker Calanda. With this activity, the participating institutions intend to disseminate internationally the figure of the greatest literary genius of the Canary Islands and build bridges of cooperation with the Instituto Cervantes, who has taken the international projection of the Initiative.
